ScreenCloud September 2019 Update
All of the news from September 2019, at ScreenCloud anyway.
We like transparency at ScreenCloud and try to keep the lines of communication between our investors, team and customers as open as possible. Each month you can dive in here and read some of the things taken from our monthly investor updates, plus the daily life of our company, product and team.
Engage app (like Instagram Stories, but for screens)
Ever worried that your company updates sound very much “From Corporate” and not “from the people?” Enter Engage app. This is a cool project our apps team has been working on that gives the ability for anyone to submit content to your screens, from their phone. (With an approval step first from your digital signage admins).
This demo explains it best and we’ll let you know when the app is ready for roll out at your events or offices.
The G2 Crowd
If you’ve ever searched for validation on a software choice, you’ve probably come across G2 (previously G2 Crowd). It’s an enterprise software review and research company and guess what, they recently ranked us as “Leaders” in the digital signage industry. Particularly for best customer relationships which makes us, well, swell with pride if we’re honest.
In line with Facebook’s own changes we’ve updated our Facebook Reviews app to Facebook Recommends. The new version lets you select the type of recommendations you’d like to display to showcase business ratings. Choose between “Recommends” and “Doesn’t recommend” and filter by the amount of stars given.
Something new we’ve introduced at ScreenCloud is our ‘Good to Great’ sessions, or “GtG” as we’ve dubbed them. The idea was born from our Culture Club, a team of people across the company designed to represent the needs of our employees in each office and remotely. GtG brings in external guests that help us think differently and constantly challenge the norm. The first, with the very acclaimed Dean Thomas, strategy at King (i.e. the makers of Candy Crush) was a success and we look forward to many more to come!
National Inclusion Week
Last week we had National Inclusion Week, celebrated from 23 to 29 September by Inclusive Employers to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion in the workplace and the many benefits that come from having a diverse and include workforce. Which made us question at ScreenCloud what we’re doing right and what we need to work a bit harder on. All of which, COO David summarizes in this blog.
Workplace experience: Meet the new From Corporate
From Corporate was a bi-weekly newsletter that we started in order to collate and share the most important stories around internal communication. This month, it evolved again as we pivoted to a monthly newsletter that collects insight, studies and stories from the world of workplace experience transformation. Detailing how workplaces are changing, who has a pioneering approach and what futurists need to know about the workplace of 2030 (and beyond).
HR at 50 people with our very own Kate Thrumble
If you follow the Behind the Screens podcast you’ll know we’ve been deep diving on all things HR this month. Including chatting to our own Head of People, Kate Thrumble, on why “50 people” seems to be the magic HR mark, if you really need to consider HR then (or before) and what that role actually entails.
How to do Investor updates
Something we do that not many people, bar our investors, see is a monthly Investor update. In fact, some of the things we share here are taken from those updates and each month, we send them without fail. Which is why David decided to share how and why we produce these updates, for any fellow startups that might be interested.
The only way is: automated employee onboarding
Would we be ScreenCloud if we didn’t have something new to share in the way of automation? Probably not. So dig in here and find out why we automated our employee onboarding system and how Zapier, some personalized mugs and a chain of emails all came together for Ben when he started to automate how new ScreenCloud peeps are welcomed into the fold.
