ScreenCloud December 2018 Update
As it’s December we wanted to spend this month’s update thinking about what’s happened over the last 12 months — and where we’re going next.
We like transparency at ScreenCloud and try to keep the lines of communication between our investors, team and customers as open as possible. Each month you can dive in here and read some of the things taken from our monthly investor updates, plus the daily life of our company, product and team. As it’s December we wanted to spend this month’s update thinking about what’s happened over the last 12 months — and where we’re going next.
What 2018 looked like at ScreenCloud
5,000 active customers
This year we added many of, what have now become, our cornerstone apps to the ScreenCloud App Store. Things like Meeting Room app and Digital Menu Board and we have a whole lot more ideas for 2019 too.
42 staff members
If we jump back to December 2017 we *think* we were around employee number 16. Which means in just a short year we’ve more than doubled our employee number, and we’re still hiring!
2 new hubs and a new office
At ScreenCloud we have a nomadic and mostly remote team and then what we call “hubs” in specific countries where there are two or more employees settled. This year we opened new hubs in LA and Belfast to host our sales and apps development teams respectively and our Bangkok team moved out of CTO Luke’s house, into a spanking new office of their own (with a pool!).
1 company conference
For a company made up of remote, international teams, getting together for our first all-company conference in Zakopane this September was a huge deal and we learned a lot.
So what’s NEXT?
As many of you may know, we’re working hard on the new and improved ScreenCloud, which will be launching in 2019. Many of the new features have been inspired by the ways our awesome customers and partners want to use screens to communicate better.
Some of the things that are coming that you *may* feel a little excited about are:
- Casting — that’s right, it’s about to get real easy to take over screens and push anything you need to say directly to your audience. Like making a quick company announcement, or testing your new playlist, before your regular content resumes as normal.
- Channels — a one-size-fits-all way to determine what shows on one, or many, screens. Perfect for when you want to group playlists, apps and media files together and send them out to a few different locations.
- Tagging — we know that for some customers, their ScreenCloud Content Library is huge. New ways of tagging and searching content are going to make it a whole lot easier to pull out the things you really need.
- Advanced scheduling — want to set up your holiday playlists early? Advanced scheduling will make it easy to set up, schedule and expire content during specific periods.
